Hi, everybody. On Thursday, I addressed a conference for business leaders from around the world. And my pitch was simple:Choose America. Invest in America. Create jobs in America. It speaks to my top priority as President: growing our economy, creating good jobs, strengthening security and opportunity for the middle class. Over the past three and a half years, our businesses have created over seven and a half million new jobs. And this week, the Treasury confirmed that since I took office, weve cut our deficits by more than half. But we have more work to do. We need to grow and create more good jobs faster. Thats my driving focus. And Ill go anywhere and do anything to make it happen. That has to be Washingtons driving focus as well. But I know that what you often hear out of Washington can sound like Charlie Browns teacher-a jumble of unfocused noise thats out of touch with the things you care about. So today, I want to cut through that noise and talk plainly about what we should do right now to keep growing this economy and creating new jobs. It begins by ending what has done more than anything else to undermine our economy over the past few years-and thats the constant cycle of manufactured crises and self-inflicted wounds. I was glad to hear the Republican leader in the Senate say this week that they wont pursue another government shutdown or threaten another default on our debt. Because we shouldnt be injuring ourselves every few months-we should be investing in ourselves. And one way to do that is through the budget that Congress started working on this week. Now, budgets can be a boring topic-especially on the weekend. But they can also be revealing. Because they expose what our priorities are as a country for all to see. Think about it. We can keep wasteful corporate tax giveaways that working folks dont get-or we could close those loopholes and use that money to pay for things that actually create jobs. We can keep harmful cuts to education programs-or we could give more kids a head start, hire more teachers in math and science, and help more kids afford a college education. We can keep doling out corporate welfare to big oil companies-or we could keep investing in the renewable energy that creates jobs and lowers our carbon pollution. Priorities. Choices. Thats what this is about. And the stakes for the middle class couldnt be higher. If we dont pick the right priorities now, make the right choices now, we could hinder growth and opportunity for decades, and leave our children with something less. That includes the obsession with cutting just for the sake of cutting. That hasnt helped our economy grow; its held it back. Remember, our deficits are getting smaller-not bigger. On my watch, theyre falling at the fastest pace in 60 years. So that gives us room to fix our long-term debt problems without sticking it to young people, or undermining our bedrock retirement and health security programs, or ending basic research that helps the economy grow. Heres the bottom line. Congress should pass a budget that cuts things we dont need, and closes wasteful tax loopholes that dont help create jobs, so that we can free up resources for the things that actually do create jobs and growth. Building new roads, and bridges, and schools, and airports-that creates jobs. Educating our kids and our workers for a global economy-that helps us grow. Investing in science, technology, and research-that keeps our businesses and our military on the cutting edge. Its vital for our economic future. So the question isnt between growth and fiscal responsibility. We need both. The question cant be how much more we can cut; its got to be how many more jobs we can create, how many more kids we can educate, and how much more shared prosperity we can generate. Because in America, our economy doesnt grow from the top-down. It grows from the middle-class out. And as long as I am President, our national mission will remain building an America where everyone belongs, and everyone who works hard has a chance to get ahead. Thanks, and have a great weekend. You know, Jerry provided a lot of different obstacles for me but at the same time the guy gave me an opportunity to perform at the highest level in terms of basketball. The Bulls, the whole Bulls organization, you know, they did a great adjustments for me and for all my teammates. Believe me I had a lot of teammates in all the 14 years I played for the Bulls. I respected each one of them. I just wanted them to win, no matter how you looked at it. Doug Collins came at the same time when I was trying to play at the summer time. He said ;well, you are part of the organization and the organization said you cant play at the summer time.; I said ;you the things in my contract; in my contract I have the love the game clause. That means I can play anytime I want, any place I want.; And Doug looked at me and said ;you are right, you are right.; And thats how we became a little closer. Jerry Krause is right there and Jerry is not here. Obviously I dont know whod invite him, I didnt. But, I hope he understands it goes a long way. He is a very competitive person. I was a very competitive person. He said organizations win championships. I said ;I didnt see organizations playing with the flu in Utah. I didnt see it playing with a bad ankle.; Granted, granted, I think organizations put together teams, but at the end of the day, teams got to go out and play. I think the players win the championship, and the organizations has something to do with it, dont get me wrong. But dont try to put the organization above players. Because at the end of the day, players still have got to go out of there and perform. You guys have got to pay us, but Ive still got to go out and play. When we think of games, theres all kinds of things. Maybe youre ticked off, or maybe youre looking forward to a new game. Youve been up too late playing a game. All these things happen to me. But when we think about games, a lot of times we think about stuff like this: first-person shooters, or the big,但是大部分时候,当我们想到“游戏”通常想到的是: 第一人称射击游戏,或者大型的,what we would call AAA games,我们称之为3A级的游戏,or maybe youre a Facebook game player. This is one my partner and I worked on. Maybe you play Facebook games, and thats what were making right now. This is a lighter form of game. Maybe you think about the tragically boring board games that hold us hostage in Thanksgiving situations. This would be one of those tragically boring board games that you can figure out. Or maybe youre in your living room, you know,又或许你在客厅里,playing with the Wii with the kids, or something like that,与孩子们一起玩Wii或者类似的游戏。and, you know, theres this whole range of games,另外,还有各种各样的游戏,and thats very much what I think about. I make my living from games. Ive been lucky enough to do this since I was 15, which also qualifies as Ive never really had a real job. But we think about games as fun, and thats completely人们认为游戏是有趣的,这是完全合理的,reasonable, but lets just think about this. So this one here, this is the 1980 Olympics. Now I dont know where you guys were, but I was in my living room. It was practically a religious event. And this is when the Americans beat the Russians,照片上就是美国队击败苏联队的瞬间,and this was -- yes, it was technically a game. Hockey is a game. But really, was this a game? Ive never seen my mother cry like that at the end of Monopoly. And so this was just an amazing experience. Or, you know, if anybody here is from Boston. So when the Boston Red Sox won the World Series after,当波士顿红袜队再次赢得世界冠军,I believe, 351 years,我想,距上次夺冠应该有351年了,when they won the World Series, it was amazing.

It also dramatically increases the number of brilliant minds we can have working together on the same problem-and that scales up the rate of potential of innovation to a staggering degree. At the same time, for every person who has access to this technology, five people dont. That means many creative minds are left out of this discussion-smart people with practical intelligence and relevant experience who dont have the technology to hone their talents or contribute their ideas to the world. We need as many people as possible to gain access to this technology, because these advances are riggering a revolution in what human beings can do for one another. They are making it possible not just for national governments, but for universities, corporations, smaller organizations, and even individuals to see problems, see approaches, and measure the impact of their efforts to address the hunger, poverty, and desperation George Marshall spoke of 60 years ago. This is what a new Bretton woods conference could accomplish in one fell swoop. It would reconstitute the IMF to better reflect the prevailing pecking order among states and revise its methods of operation. It would decide how to treat financial institutions that are too big to fail and it would consider new rules to control capital movements because the total freedom of financial capital to move around freely the world has proved to be a source of instability and needs to be curbed. The use of the dollar as the main international currency has produced dangerous imbalances. The dollar is no longer and no longer enjoys the trust and confidence it once did, yet no other currency is in a position to take its place. There is a general flight from currencies into gold and other commodities and tangible assets. That is harmful because it keeps those assets out of productive use and stokes the fear of inflation. The ed States ought not to shy away from the wider use of Special Drawing Rights (SDRs). That should induce China to abandon its peg to the dollar and that would be the best way to reduce international imbalances. Since SDRs are denominated in several national currencies, no single currency would enjoy an unfair advantage.
