The 21st century is the age of living single.21世纪是单身人士的年代。Today, the number of single adults in the U.S.-and many other nations around the world-is unprecedented. And the numbers don#39;t just say people are staying single longer before settling down. More are staying single for life. A 2014 Pew Report estimates that by the time today#39;s young adults reach the age of 50, about one in four of them will have never married. The ascendancy of single living has left some in a panic. US News amp; World Report, for example, cautioned that Americans think the country#39;s moral values are bad and getting worse, and one of the top reasons for their concern is the large number of people remaining single. But instead of fretting, maybe we should celebrate. Don#39;t rush into choosing a mate just because it#39;s Valentine#39;s Day. I#39;m a social scientist, and I#39;ve spent the past two decades researching and writing about single people. I#39;ve found that the rise of single living is a boon to our cities and towns and communities, our relatives and friends and neighbors. This trend has the chance to redefine the traditional meaning-and confines-of home, family and community. For years, communities across the country have been organized by clusters of nuclear families living in suburban homes. But there are some signs that this arrangement isn#39;t working out so well. These houses are often too isolating-too far from work and from one another. According to a national survey ongoing since 1974, Americans have never been less likely to be friends with their neighbors than they are now, with neighborliness lowest in the suburbs. But studies have also shown that single people are bucking those trends. For example, they are more likely than married people to encourage, help and socialize with their friends and neighbors. They are also more likely to visit, support, advise and stay in touch with their siblings and parents. In fact, people who live alone are often the life of their cities and towns. They tend to participate in more civic groups and public events, enroll in more art and music classes, and go out to dinner more often than people who live with others. 译文属 /201705/507636A mother has been fined EURO30,000 by an Italian court for criticising her ex-husband in front of their son. The mother had custody over their youngster and a civil tribunal claimed the woman#39;s ranting breached the child#39;s rights of having a healthy relationship with both of his parents. The judge found the woman had failed to ensure the child and his father had a #39;healthy and proper#39; relationship and #39;continued to express her disapproval, using derogatory terms about the boy#39;s father.#39;法官发现该女士未能确保孩子和爸爸拥有“健康适当”的父子关系,并且“一直贬损前夫,表达自己的不满”。The mother now has to change her approach to her partner and child#39;s relationship in order to keep custody. By repeatedly criticizing her ex in front of the child, the woman was said to be damaging the child#39;s mental health making her actions criminal behaviour. Now the woman, who could not be named for legal reasons, has been warned that if she continues she #39;could lead to modifications of the conditions of custody#39;. EU law recognises that children have the right to a personal relationship and direct contact with both parents. A recent parenting report claimed there is a new way to make the transition of a break-up easier for kids. As any divorcing couple with children will know, part of the agony of separating is deciding how best to shuffle the kids back and forth from their respective parents#39; homes. However, the latest separation trend sees the conventional divorce idea turned on its head. Instead of moving the children each weekend or each month, #39;bird#39;s nest parenting#39; sees the mother and father do the rotating in and out of the home - while the children remain the constants.“鸟巢式育儿法”要求父母交替着回家照顾孩子,而孩子可以留在家中,不必再像以前那样在父母亲家轮流住了。Like #39;conscious uncoupling#39; before it, bird#39;s nest parenting requires an ongoing amicable relationship between the two parents in question. Bird#39;s nest parenting is thought to have originated in 2000 in the US, when a Virginia court agreed that the best solution for two young children in the midst of a family divorce involved them staying in their family home. The parenting idea is opposed to the treating of children as #39;frisbees#39;. Since then, bird#39;s nest parenting has been become more and more popular in the US, before it has come elsewhere. /201610/473803

Drinking A Lot Of Water喝很多水Drinking water is good for your kidneys and skin, and keeps you hydrated. That is true. But, the plastic bottles you#39;re drinking from might contain harmful chemicals that get into your body via the water. So stick to drinking your water from a glass. That#39;s still healthy! Watching your calories and fat intake is a good thing, but going too extreme with a low-fat diet can actually do more harm than good. Our bodies need some fat to absorb the healthy stuff in vegetables. Plus going too low with fat intake can make you hungry and can wreak havoc on your sleep. Making Your Bed Every Morning每天早上都叠被Who knew making your bed every morning could actually be bad for your health? Sadly, it#39;s true. By making that bed look perfectly made with those crisp corners and tight sheets, you#39;re actually sealing in moisture that has no chance to air out, making your perfectly made bed a breeding ground for dust mites. Who knew? If you#39;re drinking diet soda because not as bad as drinking full-calorie soda, you may want to re-think that. And there are some studies that show diet soda can actually lead to weight gain. What?! So maybe bye-bye to soda and get your sweet tooth elsewhere? There#39;s always water. Avoid The Sun All Together一直不晒太阳So we#39;ve all the same studies about how bad the sun is for your skin. But the sun rays also blast your skin with Vitamin D, which your body needs. Sunscreen blocks Vitamin D. And avoiding the sun all together means your body is missing a very important nutrient. Doctors recommend 10-minutes of sun exposure during the summer (without sunscreen) and more in the winter. So your weekdays are jam packed, meaning you live on less sleep than college students, and so you plan to catch up on the weekends. Catching up on sleep doesn#39;t mean your body actually gets the sleep from you deprived it during the week. What the body needs is consistent sleep each and every day. A lack of sleep can lead to impaired brain function and even weight gain. So get to bed earlier during the week so you don#39;t have to binge sleep your weekend away.
